Meißen Porcelain

Later in the afternoon we visited the Meißen Porcelain factory in Meißen. It was the first European porcelain manufacturer . Porcelain was imported from China since the 13 century but wasn't produced in Europe until 1710. The tour included a brief film and than a walk through four rooms where porcelain was being worked at each stage of the process. The workers were kind enough to allow pictures and even took questions from the audience. I wondered if the people are always the same or if they alternate. The host mother showed John some pictures from when she was there a year before and two of them were the same. The end glazing was interesting to see since the glaze isn't the same colour as the end result after it's fired.
