Servicio

While wandering around all day, one has to use a variety of public toilets. Some are clean, some dirty, some spacious, some not so spacious. Until this trip, they all had something in common, however: you are meant to sit on them.

Toilets in northern Italy varied a lot. Some of them were the usual toilets at the usual height. Many however, were low to the ground and reminded me of the ones in primary schools. Others just didn't have the seat on them. Then there were a few really strange ones. They were basically porcelain holes in the ground with ridges on the sides that I think you were supposed to stand on. I guess it gives the leg muscles a good workout...

You will find those hole ones throughout the arab world. Perhaps you were in an area populated by arabs.
