Pulpits

As with the rest of the churches, the pulpits were quite ornate. I was struck at times by the detail in the woodwork. Many of the pulpits had "tops" with more intricate wordwork on them. Frequently, there was a sculpture of the Holy Spirit on the under side of these "tops." Also, many of these pulpits had two stairways. We think that is pretty unusual to have two stairways but it may have been common in the era in which the churches were built.
